Waves
I told my secrets to the ocean
The waves are rolling into my thoughts
Like some charming siren calling
Inviting me into its deadly shores
Just hold on to the tide
It’s nice to know the wind blows behind you
What’s a wave will wave away
It’s nice to know the wind blows behind you
What’s a wave will wave away
In the wake of the dawn there is water beneath my feet
And I am sinking beneath your deep blue waters
They told me tales of a land of water and sand where people go and pray
Now here I am again hypnotised by your waves
Just hold on to the tide
Cause the ocean may lose its ways again
It’s nice to know the wind blows behind you
What’s a wave will wave away
It’s nice to know the wind blows behind you
What’s a wave will wave away
Hold on to the tide
The shore will rise
Fading into the night
Oh float me down between your tides
And I will rise
It’s nice to know the wind blows behind you
What’s a wave will wave away

About the song

As the final official track on the album, Waves stands as a psychedelic-infused rock epic and one of our most ambitious creations to date. Its origins trace back to a completely unexpected moment. During lockdown, Dragos was working late-night shifts at Amazon. One night, he woke up at 4 AM only to discover his shift had been cancelled. Not feeling like going back to sleep, he picked up his guitar—and that’s when the main riff was born.
The next day, Maria heard it and instantly fell in love. From there, the two of them began building the instrumental together. When they brought it into the rehearsal room, the rest of the band connected with it immediately. The excitement pushed us to keep expanding the track, adding new sections and ideas. At one point, the song stretched to nearly eight minutes, and although we only kept the main ones, we made sure to preserve one of our favorite elements: the double-time instrumental section.
Lyrically, the song draws inspiration from the Romanian poem Glossă by Mihai Eminescu. After Maria shared her deep connection to the ocean with Dragos, he introduced her to the poem. One line in particular—“What’s a wave will wave away”—sparked the direction for the rest of the lyrics. Maria also recalls being heavily influenced by the band Sleepy Sun, whose philosophical and mythological approach to songwriting inspired her to explore a more poetic style—using nature imagery and metaphor to express emotion.
