David

David holds down the low end for the band, incorporating his vast experience from a diverse musical background to sculpt his unique approach to the bass, helping to shape the sound of Luna Marble.

He first took an interest in playing music at the age of 10, when he began taking guitar, piano and bass lessons. This interest soon grew into passion, and he found himself exploring numerous genres, including jazz, funk, soul and rock. With this new passion David soon found himself involved in numerous bands and projects, ranging from rock bands in high school to jazz big bands, playing in venues large and small, from small pub gigs to large concert halls, including Manchester’s iconic Bridgewater Hall. No matter the occasion, David’s love for live music has always been strong.
At university David chose to expand his musical identity further, joining a world music ensemble, as well as jazz bands and the musical theatre pit band, while rock still remained a huge passion for him. He joined in some jam sessions too, where he first met Maria and Sean.
With all this experience with different styles of music, David likes to find ways to adapt his style to incorporate his influences into whatever he’s playing. The Beatles and Queen have always been a huge part of David’s playing style, also using his jazz and funk background to spice up his bass lines. More modern bands such as Muse and Royal Blood also helped shape his sound. David’s bass lines are a vital part of the way Luna Marble creates its sound, providing a solid foundation with intrinsic grooves and a bluesy feel.
