Born in Spain, Maria did not have any formal musical education, however she spent most of her formative years listening to her dad’s extensive record collection and developing a big interest for music. As a child Maria was a natural performer, always singing and dancing, finding every spare moment to entertain the ones around her.
Moving to Manchester at the age of 16 she bought her first guitar and starting learning her favourite songs by ear. It was then that she decided to pursue music more seriously and go to University to study popular music and recording. In University Maria developed a high interest for recording and producing leading to her role as a producer in the band.
Maria’s early influences are The Police, Michael Jackson and The Foo Fighters which later opened her appetite for grunge, Soundgarden being one of her favourite bands. When seeking who inspired them she found the music of the 70’s which became her core influence. Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd are some of the more notable groups that inspire her but the list is much longer.
On top of this Maria’s singing style is also characterised by her love for jazz, her favourite being Ella Fitzgerald. It is this blend of passion and grit blended with ethereal and warm jazzy tones that characterises Maria’s singing in Luna Marble.
