Luna Marble Drummer Sean

Sean

From Preston Lancashire, Sean’s interest in music starts as young as 10 with parents who always had music playing. This music ranged from all sorts of genres, but the one that stood out was metal. Sean took an interest in what the drums were doing and by the time he got halfway through high school, he decided to take up the instrument. Every night after school, he’d go straight to the drum kit, learning his favourite songs and jamming with his other musical friends. Sean spent some time in his college years working with different bands; recording and gigging regularly. He found that he really enjoyed the performance aspect of drums, and thrived in the band environment, collaborating and sharing ideas with other musicians. With this in mind, Sean decided to take this passion to the next level and pursue music at The University of Salford.

It was at University, that Sean really honed in on his influences and developed his own style. Inspired by the funky grooves of Chad Smith, the intensity and passion of Lars Ulrich and the syncopated power of Dave Grohl. Sean met bassist David during University, and they collaborated on many projects together, one of these projects being with Maria and Dragos.

After some jamming sessions, it was clear that Sean’s powerhouse drumming complimented the ideas of Maria and Dragos, and blended together, creating the powerful classic rock style of Luna Marble. Sean creates his drum parts by taking elements of the 70s influences and blending them with his own, creating an almost contemporary set of drum parts to compliment the songs. He also likes to keep listeners on their feet, breaking away from traditional back beats, using syncopated rhythms that help drive the sound and reinforce the intensity the band play with.
